Why did we create this product?

HOTSHOT was created by our food scientists, fitness director and a dietitian. Together they were able to consider the commercial viability, safety and consumer needs in order to select synergistic ingredients and set prime dosages for a pre-workout supplement. The formula for HOTSHOT is scientifically backed, meaning there is proof that the ingredients and dosages help to enhance performance.

In a world of Covid, when Labs were inaccessible, we had to relay on existing science. Approximately over 50 scientific journals were read prior to creating the HOTSHOT formula to gather solid evidence on ingredients that are efficacious. 30 different ingredients were scientifically backed and considered to be included. The further selection process was established by customer expectations and needs, based on the current market. Lastly, the formula including dosages were decided whereby taste was considered as well.

How is the product unique?

HOTSHOT is a pre-workout supplement that helps recharge energy sources to increase strength and lean body mass, subsequently enhancing performance. It is a water based drink of herbs and vitamins in powder form with sweetness.

The symptoms of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) can prolong the time it takes for you to be able to exercise again. Using supplements such as pre-workouts can decrease the time taken for muscle recovery, allowing you to get back to the gym sooner.

Stimulant heavy supplements should only be considered after a serious training program is set in place, and the athlete has the motivation needed to achieve the desired results. Pre-workouts are made to help athletes, bodybuilders and gym junkies get through heavy, intense training sessions and break personal records.

What to expect and when?

Everyone is different, but generally you will begin to feel the effects of HOTSHOT within 30 minutes after taking it.

You will no longer feel too tired and sore to go to the gym. Consistently taking pre-workouts can give you the ergogenic aid needed to be able to increase your exercise capacity and perform, without overloading on carbs and calories. The caffeine content of pre-workouts has a positive impact on arousal and concentration, therefore enhancing cognition and allowing for increased focus during training sessions.

How to prepare?

Add 1 heaped scoop with 200ml of water. If you desire more diluted flavour, just add 300ml of water instead. Consume 1 serving 30 minutes before your training session and only consume 1 serving daily.

Beta Alanine (1750mg), Citrulline Malate 2:1 (1500mg), Creatine Monohydrate (1500mg), AAKG - Alpha Ketoglutarate (1400mg), D-Ribose (1250mg), Suma Root (250mg), Caffeine Anhyrous (175mg), 5-HTP (125mg), Panax Ginseng 25:1 (40mg), Guarana (25mg), Glycerol, Flavouring, Beta Carotene, Citric Acid, Sucralose.

Suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.

Beta Alanine - Beta-alanine is a type of amino acid that works to reduce neuromuscular fatigue. During exercise, glucose is broken down into lactic acid, producing Hydrogen ions. Beta-alanine has proven to significantly increase muscle carnosine concentration and therefore acts as a buffer to maintain pH levels and help decrease fatigue. Many studies suggest it may also allow greater overload and superior adaptations compared to training alone.

A dosage of over 3g per serving will suffice for the benefits. It seems that the only downfall is the ‘tingle sensation’ you get from high dosages, but this is not bring health risks on what has been seen to date. Therefore, if you don’t like the tingle sensation, then pre-workout may be best to split the 1 serving across 3 drinks a day.

Citrulline Malate 2:1 - L-Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid found in many animal and plant foods. It acts as a vasodilator, which in return can increase the blood flow. Consuming L-citrulline has proven to increase the amount of oxygen that is transported to your working muscles during exercise, allowing for an increased performance time before fatigue. What is interesting is that is also linked with producing Arginine, which is good for producing NO, hence why we have dosed this as high as 3g per serving. Any higher and stomach upset may occur. It seems that studies show that it isn’t 1 high dose that works the best but rather continuous usage of 3g for 7 days is better.

Creatine Monohydrate - Creatine is a popular supplement which helps to increase strength and muscle mass, as well as speed up muscle recovery after exercise. Past studies have proven that supplementation which increases creatine concentration within the muscles, will improve overall performance. Creatine is a key aspect of the body’s energy production process, so there is no surprise that it can have such an impact on training and recharging the muscles.

AAKG 2:1 (alpha ketoglutarate) - Alpha ketoglutarate is a key element for reduced muscle degradation and increased protein synthesis.

D-Ribose - Requires more scientific evidence to support its benefits such as increased energy levels but preliminary studies do show that this ingredient is promising with good safety record. There are some positive studies coming out when D-Ribose is matched with Creatine.

Suma Root - Though studies of Suma root does not amount to the benefits of Panax ginseng, this ingredient is certainly a good ingredient to include in the preworkout due to its natural benefits of increasing mood and its inflammatory properties.

Caffeine - Caffeine increases the amount of blood that reaches your muscles by dilating blood vessels. This will make it feel like you’re putting in less effort, to accomplish the same amount of work. Caffeine can increase metabolic rate, enhance endurance and muscle power, as well short term cognition.

5-HTP - 5-Hydroxytrptphan – derived from a bean/ plant of West Africa, helps elevate mood through increasing serotonin production. There have been over 100 studies, where a few that are high quality clinical studies that show positive results with good safety levels.

Ginseng 25:1 - Ginseng is most known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. However it may also help control blood sugar levels, enhance brain function and combat fatigue.

Guarana - Much more benefits than its risks, makes Guarana a brilliant ingredient to add to the list. Guarana has shown to reduce fatigue, boost energy and aid cognition. It is also associated to multiple other benefits such as weight loss and skin health. Most research suggests that a sufficient dose is between 50–75mg.
